Doin’ Tea at St. Regis Saadiyat

I love a good hotel afternoon tea, but it’s not often easy to find. Recently, I took a chance on tea at The St. Regis Saadiyat after reading that they were among the top four afternoon teas in Abu Dhabi. They did not disappoint!

Doin’ Tea in Singapore

As I was researching places to have afternoon tea in Singapore, I came across a phenomenon that was entirely new to me.  Of course, I expected that there would be no shortage of tea experiences in Singapore, but this blew my mind!  You see, on the weekend, in Singapore, one can partake of an afternoon tea buffet!  (Yes…squeals of delight are entirely appropriate here!)

After more research, I made my reservation for the highly touted tea buffet at Regent Singapore Hotel Tea Lounge.  I arrived early and waited in the lobby for the second seating to begin.  I approached the hostess stand about five minutes to three and found a line was already forming!  Fairly quickly after I was seated, the lobby lounge was bursting with tea takers!  There were couples old and young, groups of friends, and families too.  It was wonderful.

We were treated to a delectable smorgasbord of small bites, from scones to creme brulee, finger sandwiches to sushi, and caviar to congee.

Doin’ Tea in Kampala

For me, no trip is complete without a tea experience.  I was certain that this former British colony would have afternoon tea going on somewhere.  My research led me to Bambara Lounge at the Serena Hotel downtown.  I enjoyed a lovely cinnamon rooibos tea, attentive service, and a chocolate mousse to live for!  But the best part was turning my cousins on to the tea experience.

Putting on the Ritz

I love turning people on to the tea experience!  Recently, I had the opportunity to introduce a friend to afternoon tea at the very posh Ritz Carlton here in Abu Dhabi.  I was delighted to find they serve Dammann tea, and I enjoyed a pot of the jardin bleu.

A Dollop of Dubai

I had a chance to pop over to Dubai during this Eid break. We planned to do the city tour but didn’t get further than Ibn Battuta Mall and Dubai Mall. However, we had a wonderful time and I can’t wait to go back!

Where There’s a Will, There’s Afternoon Tea

It was four o’clock and I needed a little something to tide me over until dinnertime.  I decided to head over to Leopold’s of London, confident that I would find a fine afternoon tea there. I was wrong…but not dissuaded. The menu featured an excellent tea list and lovely desserts. I could work with that!

image

My imperial rose tea came in this very impressive modern tea set. It's available for purchase for 1500 dirhams. You can also purchase any of the fine teas.

image

For the savory course, I had the braselo caprese. You have not truly lived until you've dipped your bread in that balsamic reduction!

image

I finished with the red velvet cream cheese cookie.

I love this tea timer! It comes with the tea set or you can purchase it separately for 300 dirhams.

If you’re feeling lost have tea

August 26, 2015

I was wandering around a mall, unable to find the teacher store. Rather than becoming frustrated, I decided to stop for afternoon tea.  I stopped into Bloomsbury’s, a chic little oasis in the middle of the mall.  Here are some highlights from my first Abu Dhabi afternoon tea experience.
